Flying the Sinus C-FYXY
The Sinus C-FYXY is very easy to fly, light and well balanced controls, powerful engine.
Normally you never need to make abrupt control movement.
Stall is gentle.
Difficult to spin.
Climbs in excess of 1500 feet a minute.
Cruise up to 122 knots in calm air.
Descend up to 1200 feet a minute with spoiler fully open and much more if a side slip is added.
Typical thermal turns can safely made at 40 knots IAS with flaperons at the zero position with
20 seconds time to do a 360. Without stalling or spinning.
With the Sinus while doing this type of turns engine off you get interesting indications,
You can notice the attitude change of the plane when you encounter stronger lift or sink,
You will be able to feel the speed change when you encounter stronger lift or sink,
You will be able to feel stick trim force change when you encounter stronger lift or sink,
With the Sinus while doing this type of turns engine off you might encounter tricky situations,
all of a sudden the high wing might be into strong lift and the low wing into strong sink,
this is the perfect set up for a spin..... if you are not careful.
In this situation the Sinus will warn you before it is to late, you will see the nose dropping,
you will feel less back pressure on the stick, you will notice the speed decaying.
In such a situation simply put the nose even lower, gain speed and continue to fly normally.
Normal landing is very easy, speed on final is 50 knots, easy to mantain, descent rate can
be easily modulated with spoilers, if you flare at the right speed and with the spoilers in the
correct position, flaring is simple......... low or high......... not much difference, as long as
you put the plane in the right attitude and wait. In the event you bounce...... no problem.
The Sinus tend to attenuate bounces by itself.
Taxing with strong winds is not a problem as long as you keep flaperons negative, ailerons
into the winds and fully open spoilers.
