The safety issue
Flying involves a certain risk. Some airplanes are safer then others.
In this page we compare the Sinus against the Cessna 150.
The Cessna 150 is a legacy two seater built in great numbers and still very popular.
The Rotax engine on the Sinus is by far more reliable then the air cooled engine of the Cessna 150, no carb icing on the Rotax as opposed to the carb icing prone air cooled, the Rotax also last much longer.
Runway roll to take off is much shorter for the Sinus and the climb rate for the Sinus is 1400 feet a minute versus the Cessna 150, this add a good deal of safety margin on take off, in the event of engine failure on initial climb the Sinus comes back to the runway safely from a much lower altitude.
In the event of engine failure in flight with the Sinus the pilot glides at a better rate 25 to 1 versus 10 to 1 giving the pilot more time and more distance to find out a better spot for an emergency landing.
Because of the spoilers the Sinus is much easier to land on a precise spot and with fully open spoiler it can descend at an higher rate then the Cessna 150.
